Recently the National Cadet Corps (NCC) celebrated its 76th Foundation Day.
On this occasion, the Defense Secretary said that the NCC has made commendable efforts in increasing the number of cadets to 3 lakhs.
This number will reach 20 lakhs in the coming years.
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
It was established under the National Cadet Corps Act XXXI of the year 1948.
It came into existence on 16 July 1948.
It is a youth development movement.
It provides opportunities to the youth of the country for their all-round development with a sense of duty, commitment, dedication, discipline and moral values so that they can become capable leaders and useful citizens.
It is open to all regular students of schools and colleges.
There is no obligation of students for active military service in this.
