76th Foundation Day of National Cadet Corps

Why in news?

• Recently the National Cadet Corps (NCC) celebrated its 76th Foundation Day.
• On this occasion, the Defense Secretary said that the NCC has made commendable efforts in increasing the number of cadets to 3 lakhs.
  • This number will reach 20 lakhs in the coming years.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

• It was established under the National Cadet Corps Act XXXI of the year 1948.
• It came into existence on 16 July 1948.
• It is a youth development movement.
• It provides opportunities to the youth of the country for their all-round development with a sense of duty, commitment, dedication, discipline and moral values ​​so that they can become capable leaders and useful citizens.
• It is open to all regular students of schools and colleges.
• There is no obligation of students for active military service in this.
