It was established on 8 August 1967.
8 August is celebrated as ASEAN Day.
The main objective of this organization is to promote political, economic, security and socio-cultural cooperation among the countries of South East Asia.
Its motto is 'One Vision, One Identity, One Community.
Its secretariat is in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
Currently, ASEAN has 10 member countries –
Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
