Recently, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi launched the second phase of Bharat Brand Scheme.
About Bharat Brand Scheme:
- Introduction: In this scheme, the government has tried to provide food grains and other essential commodities to the middle class at subsidized prices under the 'Bharat Brand' label.
- First Phase: The first phase of this scheme was started in the year 2023.
- In this, the government had made flour, rice, gram and pulses available to the general public at subsidized rates.
- Second Phase: Currently, the second phase of this scheme has been started by the government.
- In the second phase, 'Bharat flour' is being made available to consumers at the rate of maximum retail price of Rs 30 per kg and 'Bharat rice' at the rate of Rs 34 per kg.
- Bharat Brand: Earlier in the year 2022, the government had launched the 'One Nation, One Fertilizer' scheme, under which it was made mandatory for all companies to sell subsidized fertilizers under a single brand name 'Bharat Brand'.
- According to this policy, the packaging design and label names of all subsidized fertilizers like Urea and DAP will be the same, such as Bharat Urea and Bharat DAP.
