Central Hindi Committee

Union Minister Amit Shah chaired the 32nd meeting of the Central Hindi Committee in New Delhi.

 

  • According to the Central Government, 3 major works have been done in the last 5 years to strengthen Hindi. These include-
    • Creation of Hindi Shabd Sindhu Dictionary
    • Establishment of Indian Language Section
    • Organizing Official Language Conference in different parts of the country

About Central Hindi Committee:

  • What is it: The highest committee to give guidelines regarding the promotion and progressive use of Hindi
  • Reorganization: November 9, 2021
  • Tenure: Normally 3 years
  • Chairman: Prime Minister
  • Members: Total 21
    • These include nine Union Ministers, six Chief Ministers, Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee, Secretary of the Official Language Department and three Conveners.
  • Function: To coordinate the works and programmes being implemented by various ministries and departments of the Government of India for the development and promotion of Hindi
