Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveler Program (FTI- TTP)

Why in the news?

• Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveler Program (FTI-TTP) from Ahmedabad.

Key Points:

• This initiative will benefit passengers at major airports like Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Cochin.
• Earlier, this program was launched from Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi in June 2024.
• In the first phase, this facility has been started at 7 other major airports of the country apart from Delhi.
• FTI-TTP will be launched at 21 major airports of the country.

Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP):

• It is an innovative initiative of the Government of India, designed to provide faster, secure and smooth immigration process to international travellers.
• This programme is particularly beneficial for travellers who travel frequently and have a clean and credible record.
• It will provide convenience to Indian and Indian citizens living abroad.
• Objective of the programme:
  • Faster and simpler immigration process for international travellers.
  • Use of modern biometric and pre-screening techniques.
  • Providing special facilities to frequent travellers.
  • Reducing long queues and waiting time at airports.
