First integrated check post started on India-Bhutan border in Assam
Why in news?
Recently, the first integrated check post started on India-Bhutan border in Assam.
This check post has been built in Daranga, Assam.
Its construction will make trade between the two countries easier.
This integrated check post is spread over an area of 14.5 acres.
It is 700 meters inside the India-Bhutan border.
This check post has office, parking space, loading and unloading space, weighing system, warehouse and accommodation facilities for the officers working in the check post.
This check post has been developed by the Land Ports Authority.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the trade between India and Bhutan was $1.6 billion in the year 2022-23.
This is 73% of Bhutan's total trade.
India exports petrol-diesel, passenger cars, rice, mobile phones, soybean oil, motor parts, electric generators, cargo vehicles etc. to Bhutan.
India buys ferro-silicon, ferro silicon magnesium, cardamom, iron-steel products etc. from Bhutan.
