Five new spiritual corridors announced in Uttar Pradesh

Why in news?

Five new spiritual corridors were announced by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the successful conduct of Maha Kumbh 2025.

About the five new spiritual corridors:

  • Prayagraj-Vindhyachal-Kashi Corridor:
    • Route: Prayagraj → Vindhyachal Devi Dham → Kashi (Varanasi)
    • Significance: This corridor is important for the devotees of Goddess Shakti and Lord Shiva, which will provide an opportunity for a spiritual journey through major holy sites.
  • Prayagraj-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur Corridor:
    • Route: Prayagraj → Ayodhya → Gorakhpur
    • Significance: This corridor connects the sites associated with Lord Rama and Gorakhnath tradition. Devotees can visit Ramlala in Ayodhya and Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur after taking bath at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.
  • Prayagraj-Lucknow-Naimisharanya Corridor:
    • Route: Prayagraj → Lucknow → Naimisharanya Dham
    • Importance: Naimisharanya is one of the 88 Mahatirthas of Hinduism, associated with Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Mata Sati and Lord Shiva. This corridor enhances spiritual connectivity.
  • Prayagraj-Rajapur-Chitrakoot Corridor:
    • Route: Prayagraj → Rajapur → Chitrakoot
    • Importance: This corridor connects important sites related to Lord Rama's exile, including Chitrakoot Dham, Kamadgiri Parvat, Ramghat, Hanuman Dhara and Rajapur, the birthplace of Goswami Tulsidas ji.
  • Prayagraj-Mathura-Vrindavan- Shuktirtha Corridor:
    • Route: Prayagraj → Mathura → Vrindavan → Shuktirtha
    • Significance: This route will facilitate devotees to visit important sites related to Lord Krishna in Mathura, Vrindavan and Shuktirtha.
  • Objective:
    • These corridors will promote spiritual tourism.
    • It will make it easier for devotees to reach these holy sites,
    • It will promote a deeper connection with India's spiritual heritage.
