Recently the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) released the 'Global Cyber Security Index, 2024'.
Global Cyber Security Index
It was launched by the International Telecommunication Union in the year 2015.
The purpose of this index is to help countries identify areas of improvement in the context of cyber security and to encourage countries to work towards capacity and capability building.
This index measures the commitment of different countries to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security and its various dimensions at the global level.
In the context of cyber security, this index is evaluated on the basis of the following five pillars:
Legal measures
Technical measures
Organizational measures
Capacity development
Cooperation

The index ranks countries on a tier-based system to measure their performance.
It covers 193 countries.
46 countries are placed in the highest level, Tier-1, in this index.
These countries demonstrate a strong commitment across all five cybersecurity pillars.
India is among the Tier-1 countries along with countries like the US, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
Most countries (105) are placed in Tier-3 and Tier-4.
