Central Government approves construction of 240 MW Heo Hydroelectric Project in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister has approved an investment of Rs. 1939 crore for construction of Heo Hydroelectric Project (HEP) in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The estimated time of completion of the project is 50 months.
The project with an installed capacity of 240 MW (3x80 MW) will generate 1000 Million Units (MUs) of energy.
The power generated from the project will also help in improving the power supply situation in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and balancing the national grid.
The project will be implemented through a joint venture company between North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The project will also lead to significant infrastructure improvement and socio-economic development in the region.
In line with the goals and objectives of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the project will provide various benefits to local suppliers/enterprises/MSMEs.
The project will also create significant indirect employment opportunities for the local community through various small contracts and services during its execution.
It will also create jobs during project operation and maintenance.
Its development will increase employment in sectors such as transport, tourism, small-scale business.
