India-US Joint Military Training 'Yudh Abhyas-2024'
Why in the news?
Recently, the joint military training of India and America 'Yudh Abhyas-2024' started.
It will be organized from 9 to 22 September at the Foreign Training Center in Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan.
This is the 20th edition of the joint military training 'Yudh Abhyas'
In this edition, the scope of the joint exercise has increased in terms of military strength and equipment.
The Indian Army is represented by a battalion of the Rajput Regiment as well as personnel from other branches and departments.
The US Army is represented by soldiers of 1-24 Battalion of the 11th Airborne Division based in Alaska.
The tactical exercises to be conducted during this war training include joint response to terrorist action, joint planning and joint field training exercises.
This will help in anti-terrorism missions.
‘Yudh Abhyas’ will provide an opportunity to both sides to share best practices in tactics, techniques and procedures for conducting joint operations.
It will help in developing interoperability and camaraderie between the two armies.
The joint exercise will also enhance defence cooperation, thereby further enhancing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
Yudh Abhyas:
This exercise has been conducted alternately between India and the US every year since 2004.
The aim of this joint exercise is to enhance the combined military capability of both sides to conduct counter-terrorism operations in sub-conventional scenario under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
This exercise focuses on operations in semi-desert environment.
