International Radio Biology Conference

Why in News?

•  DRDO's laboratory, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) is organizing the International Radiobiology Conference.
• Professor Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India inaugurated it as the chief guest.
• The event will be held from 27 February 2025 to 1 March 2025.
• The theme of the event is: “Biological effects of space radiation, heavy ions and human space missions - systems and biomedical response measures”
• The conference serves as a unique and important platform for the exchange of knowledge among radiobiologists, physicists, engineers and medical researchers.
• It aims to understand the biological effects of space radiation and develop biomedical solutions for the protection of astronauts.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO):

• It is the research and development wing of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
• It was formed in the year 1958.
• Its headquarters is in Delhi.
• Its objective is to empower India with cutting-edge defense technologies.

Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS)

• It conducts research in nuclear medicine, biomedical sciences and allied areas.
• It comes under the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
• Its main objective is to develop advanced medical solutions for defense and civilian applications.
