Why in News?

• The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched the much-awaited Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain – 2025 on World Water Day.

About Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2025:

• Promote water conservation and management
• Strengthen water resource management in 148 districts
• Ensure community participation
• Emphasis on rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge

Main events:

• Launch of 'Jal-Jangal-Jan' Abhiyan
• E-launch of Mukhyamantri Jal Sanchay Yojana and Water Resources Atlas
• Award ceremony for outstanding contribution in water conservation
• Painting and sculpture exhibition
• Unveiling of water management projects

Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain:

• It is a major initiative run by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
• ​​Its objective is to collect and conserve rainwater to the maximum.
• It was started in the year 2021.
• Every year, this campaign is revamped on the occasion of World Water Day.
