Why in news?
Recently, Kerala became the first state in India to establish a Senior Citizens Commission.

About Kerala Senior Citizens Commission:
- It has been established under the Kerala State Senior Citizens Commission Act, 2025.
- It is a statutory body.
- The first commission of its kind in India, which focuses exclusively on the welfare of senior citizens.
- Acts as an advisory body in the state's elderly policy formulation.
Objectives
- To promote inclusiveness and respect, so that the elderly can live a dignified life.
- To protect the rights and welfare of senior citizens.
- To ensure rehabilitation, protection and active participation of the elderly in society.
