Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan on February 18 launched the National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) program at a function held in Raisen (Sanchi), Madhya Pradesh.
Objective of 'NAKSHA' program:-
To create and update land records through urban land survey.
To ensure accurate and reliable documentation of land ownership.
To provide digital land records to urban citizens.
Scope of the program:-
Started as a pilot project in 152 urban local bodies of 26 states and 3 union territories.
Digital map of land will be prepared by drone survey.
Citizens will get a systematic digital record of their property.
Features of 'Naksha' program:-
Transparency in land ownership: Land records will be clear, which will reduce property disputes.
Use of modern technology: Drone survey, digital mapping and online documentation.
Promotion of urban development: Better implementation of investment, property transactions and government schemes.
Support to Digital India initiative: Promote digital process of property document registration.
Promotion of trade and investment: Clarity in land ownership will accelerate economic development.
Improvement in governance and administration: There will be better implementation of government schemes and services.
