The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India conferred the prestigious National Dhanvantri Ayurveda Awards for the year 2025 to three practitioners.
The awards were presented by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at a function held in Mumbai.
Each awardee was presented with a citation, a trophy bearing the statue of Lord Dhanvantri and a cash prize of ₹5 lakh.
National Dhanvantri Ayurveda Awards Recipients:
Vaidya Tara Chand Sharma: Renowned Nadi Vaidya and author, who has enriched Ayurvedic knowledge through his publications.
Vaidya Maya Ram Uniyal: A scholar having over six decades of experience in the field of Dravyaguna Vigyan, whose writings and administration have made significant contributions to the field of Ayurveda.
Vaidya Sameer Govind Jamadagni: Founder of Vishwa Vyakaranamala National Conference and Vishwa Ayurveda Prabodhini, who added new dimensions to Ayurveda education.
National Dhanvantri Ayurveda Award:
It is a prestigious honour given by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
This award is given to those individuals who have made exceptional contributions in the field of Ayurveda.
Ayurveda:
It is the traditional system of medicine of India.
The word Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit words 'Ayush' and 'Veda'.
It means 'life' and 'science' respectively.
Thus Ayurveda means 'science of life'.
It emphasizes on balance between body, mind, spirit and environment.
In this, diseases are linked to the imbalance of the life force or prana of the body.
Ayurveda uses methods such as diet, herbs, massage, yoga, meditation, and internal cleansing.
Techniques such as examining the pulse, tongue, eyes, and physical appearance are used.
Lord Dhanvantri: God of Ayurveda
Lord Dhanvantri is considered the god of health, medicine and Ayurveda in Indian mythology.
He is considered one of the incarnations of Vishnu, who is the god who destroys diseases and provides health.
