National Florence Nightingale Award 2024

Why in news?

• Recently, President Draupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2024 to nursing professionals.
• A total of 15 awards were given in the categories of Registered Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife, Registered Nurse and Midwife and Registered Lady Visitor.
• These awards were given to outstanding nursing personnel working in the Center, State/Union Territory and voluntary organizations.
• Each award includes a merit certificate, a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a medal.

National Florence Nightingale Award

• The National Florence Nightingale Award was instituted in the year 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to recognize and honour the meritorious services rendered by outstanding nursing personnel.
• It aims to honour nurses and nursing professionals for their meritorious services rendered to the society.
• Nurses holding regular employment in hospital or community service, academic or administrative setting are eligible for this award.
