National Nutrition Month 2024

Why in news?

• Recently, Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi launched the 7th National Nutrition Month 2024
• It was inaugurated from Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
• It will run from 1 September to 30 September
• This campaign has been launched to promote nutrition awareness and health across the country.
• The aim of this campaign is to further accelerate efforts to combat malnutrition and promote overall health across the country.
• It will focus on topics such as anemia, growth monitoring, supplementary nutrition, nutrition and studies, technology for better governance and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

Nutrition campaign

• Poshan Abhiyaan was launched in the year 2018 
• Ministry of Women and Child Development is the nodal ministry for this Abhiyaan

Objective-

• To reduce cases of stunting in districts with the highest burden of malnutrition.
• To improve the nutritional status of children under 6 years of age, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers by adopting a coordinated and result-oriented approach in a timely manner.
• To reduce malnutrition in the country in a phased manner.
