Why in the news?
- This exercise is being conducted in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) from January to March 2025.
- It is the flagship biennial operational exercise of the Indian Navy.

Exercise involves-
- 65 Indian Naval ships
- Nine submarines
- More than 80 different types of aircraft
Objectives-
- To validate the core combat skills of the Indian Navy
- To enhance its operational readiness
This exercise is being conducted in various phases-
- Port and Sea
- Cyber and Electronic Warfare Operations
- Live Weapon Firing
Integrated Fleet Operations:
- For the first time, India's Eastern and Western Fleets were integrated together.
- Western Fleet -
- Based in Mumbai, which operates in the Arabian Sea.
- Eastern Fleet-
- Headquartered at Visakhapatnam, which looks after the security of the Bay of Bengal and the Indo-Pacific region.
Capstone Theatre Level Operational Exercise (TROPEX)
- It is the largest maritime exercise of the Indian Navy.
- It involves the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Coast Guard.
- It is held every two years in the Indian Ocean.
