Navy's Tropex Exercise 2025

Why in the news?

• This exercise is being conducted in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) from January to March 2025.
• It is the flagship biennial operational exercise of the Indian Navy.

Exercise involves-

• 65 Indian Naval ships
• Nine submarines
• More than 80 different types of aircraft

Objectives-

• To validate the core combat skills of the Indian Navy
• To enhance its operational readiness

This exercise is being conducted in various phases-

• Port and Sea
  • Cyber ​​and Electronic Warfare Operations
• Live Weapon Firing
  • Amphibious Exercise

Integrated Fleet Operations:

• For the first time, India's Eastern and Western Fleets were integrated together.
• Western Fleet -
  • Based in Mumbai, which operates in the Arabian Sea.
• Eastern Fleet-
  • Headquartered at Visakhapatnam, which looks after the security of the Bay of Bengal and the Indo-Pacific region.

Capstone Theatre Level Operational Exercise (TROPEX)

• It is the largest maritime exercise of the Indian Navy.
• It involves the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Coast Guard.
• It is held every two years in the Indian Ocean.
