  • Recently, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Supreme Court, President Draupadi Murmu unveiled the new flag and logo of the Supreme Court

New flag and logo of the Supreme Court

  • The new flag and logo of the Supreme Court has been designed by NIFT Delhi.
  • This flag is blue in colour.
  • This new flag displays the Ashoka Chakra, the Supreme Court building and the Constitution of India.
  • This flag has the Sanskrit verse 'Yato Dharmastato Jai' written on it, which means 'Where there is Dharma, there is victory'

Supreme Court

  • The Supreme Court is the highest judicial body under the Constitution of India.
  • Article 124 of the Constitution states that “There shall be a Supreme Court of India.”
  • The Supreme Court came into existence with the enactment of the Constitution on 26 January 1950.
  • The Supreme Court was inaugurated on 28 January 1950.
  • The first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad inaugurated the present building of the Supreme Court on 4 August 1958.
  • Articles 124 to 147 in the Indian Constitution mention the formation, independence, jurisdiction, powers, procedure, etc. of the Supreme Court.
