Pink cocaine is the common name for a synthetic drug that contains a mixture of substances including MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), Ketamine and 2C-B.

Other names:

Cocaina rosada, Tuci, Venus and Eros.

Characteristics:

  • Pink cocaine is usually in powder or pellet form and is famous for its bright pink color.
  • It is laced with food coloring and sometimes strawberry or other flavorings.
    • This is done to make it look attractive and tasty.

History:

  • Pink cocaine was first synthesized in 1974 by American biochemist Alexander Shulgin.
    • However, its modern version was seen in Colombia around the year 2010.
  • MDMA:  It is commonly known as Ecstasy, a stimulant that has psychedelic properties.
    • Psychedelics (also known as hallucinogens) are a class of psychoactive substances that produce changes in perception, mood and cognitive processes.
    • Psychedelics affect all the senses. They alter a person's thinking, sense of time and emotions.
  • Ketamine: Ketamine is a powerful anaesthetic that has sedative and hallucinogenic effects.
  • 2C-B: It is also known as Nexus. It is a synthetic psychedelic drug of the 2C family, used primarily as a narcotic.
