PM Modi's visit to Kuwait

Why in news?

• PM Modi will visit Kuwait, this will be the first visit of an Indian PM in 43 years.

Key Points:-

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kuwait on a two-day visit at the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
• During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with the Kuwaiti leadership.
• The Prime Minister will also interact with the Indian community in Kuwait.
• This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years.
• The Prime Minister will also attend the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as the special guest of the Emir of Kuwait.

India and Kuwait Relations:-

• India and Kuwait have centuries-old ties characterised by historical ties, strong economic exchanges and vibrant cultural engagement.
• The two countries enjoy excellent political relations.
• India is one of Kuwait's top trading partners with bilateral trade between the two countries expected to exceed $10 billion during 2023-24.
• Kuwait also remains a reliable energy partner for India.
