Ramon Magsaysay Award

• Established – Year 1957
• This award is given in the memory of Ramon Magsaysay, the seventh President of the Philippines.
• It was started to honor the good work being done in Asia in running the government or in the field of social reforms.
• It is also called the Nobel Prize of Asia.
• This award is given by the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation.
• It is given to individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to public service in various fields.
• It is given in the following categories –

  3. Community Leadership
  4. Journalism, Literature and Creative Communication Arts
  5. Peace and International Understanding

• The recipient of this award is given a certificate and a medal bearing the picture of Philippines leader Ramon Magsaysay.
