Shiksha Sanjeevani Bima Yojana

Why in news?

• Recently Rajasthan government has launched Shiksha Sanjeevani Bima Yojana to provide accident insurance to school children.

About the scheme:

• Launch: State Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar
• Date: February 26, 2025
• Place: Udaipur, at a function organized at Residency School
• Objective of the scheme:
  • To ensure continuity in the education of children
  • To prevent child labor
  • To promote financial inclusion through Digital India
  • To prevent misuse of insurance claim amount
  • To encourage the habit of saving among children from an early age
• Financing and partners:
• Wonder Cement:
  • Will pay the insurance premium of the insured children, from its CSR fund
• Zurich Kotak General Insurance:
  • Insurance provider (Joint venture of Zurich Insurance Group of Switzerland and Kotak Mahindra Bank)
• State Bank of India:
  • Will open a zero balance savings account and deposit Rs 500 monthly
• Features of the scheme:
  • For classes 1-5 Students will be covered
• Insurance cover:
  • Rs 1 lakh for students, Rs 1.35 lakh for parents
  • If the parent dies in an accident,
  • then the children will get scholarship with interest till the age of 18
• Beneficiaries:
  • Around 1.35 lakh children and their parents will benefit from the scheme
  • The scheme will be expanded to all the schools in the state,
  • Around 1 crore students will benefit from it
• Initial area:
  • Initially the scheme will be implemented in government schools of Udaipur division.
