Why in the news?
Recently Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise SLINEX 2024 started.
It will be organized in Visakhapatnam from 17 to 20 December 2024.
This exercise will be conducted in two phases -
Port Phase from 17 to 18 December
Sea phase from 19 to 20 December.
This joint naval exercise will demonstrate the capabilities of indigenously built naval ships and aircraft in India.
During this exercise, surface and air attack exercises, weapons firing, development of seamanship and shipping and maneuvers and cross deck flight operations will be practiced.
This will benefit in taking the already established interoperability procedures between the two friendly navies to greater heights in the future.
The aim of this exercise is to further strengthen the strong maritime relations between India and Sri Lanka, as well as promote a safe, secure and rules-based maritime environment.
This exercise reflects the deep engagement between India and Sri Lanka, which has strengthened mutual cooperation in the maritime sector.

It has strengthened maritime cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.
