Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) student film 'Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know' has qualified for the 2025 Oscars in the Live Action Short Film category.
This Kannada language short film directed by FTII student Chidanand S Naik is inspired by Indian folk tales and traditions.
Earlier this year, the film won the first prize at the La Cinéfe selection of the Cannes Film Festival.
The La Cinéfe jury at Cannes praised the film's interesting story and excellent direction.
It is now set to compete with the best short films in the world.
