Surat ranks first in Clean Air Survey 2024

Why in news?

• Recently the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change presented the Clean Air Survey Awards 2024.
• Surat ranked first in category 1 cities (with a population of more than one million).
  • After this, Jabalpur and Agra got place.
• Firozabad ranked first in the list of category 2 cities (with a population of three to one million)
  •  After this, Amravati and Jhansi got place.
• Rae Bareli ranked first in category 3 cities (population less than 3 lakh)
  • After this, Nalgonda and Nalagarh got place.

Clean Air Survey Awards:

It is an initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to rank cities based on the implementation of approved activities under the City Action Plan and Air Quality in the cities.
