Veer Bal Diwas and Prime Minister's National Child Award
Why in the news?
The Ministry of Women and Child Development will celebrate Veer Bal Diwas on 26 December 2024.
It will be organized at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) will be presented on this occasion.
This time 17 children from 14 states/union territories have been selected for this award.
These include 7 boys and 10 girls.
President Smt. Draupadi Murmu will confer the award to these children.
Each winner will be given a medal, certificate and citation booklet.
Veer Bal Diwas
Veer Bal Diwas is celebrated to remember the sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Sahibzaade, Zorawar Singh Ji and Fateh Singh Ji.
These two Sahibzadas sacrificed their lives for religion while facing the atrocities of the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.
Why is it celebrated on 26 December?
On December 26, 1704, these two Sahibzadas were bricked into the wall.
That is why it was decided to celebrate this day as Veer Bal Diwas.
What is the Prime Minister's National Bal Puraskar?
The Prime Minister's National Bal Puraskar is a prestigious award given by the Government of India to children for their outstanding contribution in various fields.
This award is given to inspire children and recognize their outstanding work.
The Prime Minister's National Bal Puraskar is given by the Government of India in 7 categories for exceptional achievements.
These include-
Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Science and Technology, Social Service, Sports and Environment.
