Zimbabwe will kill 200 elephants

Why in news

  • To feed the hungry people, Zimbabwe's Wildlife Authority has decided to kill 200 elephants.
  • There is a terrible drought in Zimbabwe.
  • Due to this, there are no crops left to eat.
  • According to Zimbabwe's Wildlife Authority, one of the reasons for killing elephants is to control their population
  • Zimbabwe's forests have the capacity to handle 55 thousand elephants, but at present the number of elephants here is more than 84 thousand.
