Athlete Biological Passport is an anti-doping tool that monitors selected biological factors to reveal the effects of doping.
It is designed to be used in combination with a traditional anti-doping test to detect banned substances in an athlete's blood or urine sample.
Its physiological effects approach allows anti-doping agencies to identify new or modified substances and designer drugs being misused by athletes.
This test helps in promoting transparency in sports along with athletes. Recently, this was discussed during the third edition of the World Anti-Doping Agency Athlete Biological Passport Symposium hosted by India.
