The Basilica of Bom Jesus is part of the oldest church and convent of Goa included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It is considered the best example of Baroque architecture in India. The tomb of Saint Xavier, located in the church is a wonderful mixture of Italian (marble base) and Hindu art (silver casket).
It was built using local materials and artifacts, also known as Indo-Portuguese style. Saint Francis-Xavier was one of the first seven members of the Society of Jesus.
