It is an anti-personnel mines, commonly known as 'Butterfly Mines or Green Parrot'. These names are derived from the shape and color of these landmines.
It has two versions PFM-1 and PFM-1S. Based on an automatic mechanism, the PFM-1S is automatically activated within 1 to 40 hours.
Due to the relatively low explosives in a small pack, it often only injures and cripples those who come in contact.* Being made of plastic, they are also difficult to detect with a metal detector.*
It is noteworthy that the PFM-1S has been used in the Soviet-Afghan war.
