It is a dance form prevalent in Himachal Pradesh and other Himalayan regions which is associated with cultural and Buddhist religious traditions.
The costumes and masks are an integral part of the dance. The masks are used to cover the ordinary nature of men and present qualities of divinity in them.
This dance is the main attraction of Buddhist festivals and monastic events and conveys the message of morality, good of humanity, destruction of evil spirits.
Recently this dance was organized in various Buddhist monasteries on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
