China has signed an agreement to set up a 1,200 MW Chashma-V nuclear power plant at Chashma in Pakistan's Mianwali district.
It is a commercial nuclear power plant which is under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) monitoring and safeguards.
In November 2006, the International Atomic Energy Agency approved the construction of new nuclear power plants in Pakistan with the help of China to meet the increasing demands of energy.
