Chattargala tunnel to be built in Jammu and Kashmir

  • National Highway Authority of India will build Chattargala tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • It will be built on Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah National Highway Road Project.
  • Its estimated cost is Rs 4,000 crore.
  • Its construction will provide a new route to Srinagar via Doda from Kathua district.
  • Importance of Chattargala tunnel:
    • This tunnel will be 6.5 km long and will reduce the distance by 20 km.
    • Tourism will also get a new boost in the entire area from Kathua to Doda.
