Decacorn is a tag that firms and startups get on the basis of their valuation. Recently 'Swiggy' has received this tag. Earlier this tag has been received by Flipkart, Paytm, Oyo and Byju's.
It is noteworhy that private firms and startups get 3 types of tags on the basis of their valuation-
Unicorn: To a company valued at over $1 billion
Decacorn: To a company valued at over $10 billion
Hectocorn: To a company valued at over $100 billion
Currently, the United States has the largest number of companies with unicorn status, followed by China and India respectively.
The growing startup culture in India has led to a rapid increase in the number of unicorn companies in the last financial year. However, the number of Decacorn companies is limited as of now.
It is worth noting that till now no Indian company has received the tag of Hectocorn.
