Epstein-Barr Virus

  • Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a member of the herpes virus family also known as human herpesvirus 4.
  • It is usually spread through bodily fluids, especially saliva. Symptoms include fatigue, fever, inflamed throat, enlargement of the spleen, liver swelling, and rash.
  • This virus can cause mononucleosis and other diseases. There is currently no vaccine available to prevent Epstein-Barr Virus infection.
  • It is one of the most common human virus. According to a recent study, Epstein-Barr Virus can develop into cancer.
