NASA scientists have observed a gamma ray burst in the solar system which has been named GRB 221009A.
This gamma-ray burst was so bright that it caused a temporary shutdown of gamma-ray instruments in space.
Gamma ray bursts are basically the first stage of a black hole coming into existence. In the late stages of a giant star's life, when it fails to generate enough fuel to support its enormous mass, its mass decreases and it becomes a black hole.
During this process an explosion is produced which is called supernova. At the same time, the resulting black hole turns into a giant cloud of residual gas and dust.
