Under an agreement between the Government of India and the World Health Organization, 'WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine’ (WHO GCTM) will be established in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
It will be set up under the Ministry of AYUSH. It will be the first and only Global Outpost Centre for Traditional Medicine in the world.
It aims to make traditional medicine useful for global well-being, develop evidence-based research, training and awareness centres, and offer a comprehensive approach to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
A Joint Task Force (JTF) has been constituted for its establishment and coordination, execution and monitoring of activities. It is worth mentioning that its establishment was announced on November 13, 2020, on the occasion of 5th Ayurveda Day.
