National thermal power corporation has started India’s first Green Hydrogen based Energy Storage Project in Simhadri. This is a micro grid project.
In this project Hydrogen will be produced using the advanced Solid Oxide Electrolyzer. Required input power for this will be received from nearby floating power plant.
The hydrogen produced during sunshine period would be stored at high pressure and would be electrified using solid oxide fuel cell.
This project would helpful for establishing micro grid projects in off grid and strategic areas of the country. It would be a precursor to large scale hydrogen energy storage projects in the country.
This project is in-line with the vision of India for becoming carbon neutral by 2070.
