Gutti Koya is a sub-tribe of Koya tribe found in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
They were formerly armed soldiers in the service of various poligors in the region and practiced shifting cultivation which is called Podu in the local language. Child marriage is prohibited in this tribe.
This tribe is mainly engaged in agriculture and has expertise in making bamboo furniture. The Koya language is spoken by this tribe which belongs to the Dravidian language family.
Presently this tribe is facing challenges of development and conflict due to Polavaram Irrigation Project.
