Hesaraghatta Lake is a man-made freshwater lake located in the city of Bangalore. It is situated near the Nandi Hills in the catchment area of the Arkavati River.
It was built in the year 1894 by the then Diwan of Mysore State Sir K.K. Seshadri Iyer and the then Chief Engineer M.C. Hutchins under the ‘Chamarajendra Water Project.’
The aqueduct system built using bricks, lime and mortar ensures water supply to the city through gravitational pull.
After about 28 years, a massive increase in the water level of this lake has been recorded.
