The scientific name of the Himalayan brown bear is Ursus Arctos Isabellinus. It is the largest mammal of the Himalayan region, which is about 7 feet in length.
It is mainly found in northern parts of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan as well as in western China and Nepal.
It is included in the category of Critically Endangered (CE) in the Red List of I.U.C.N. and in Schedule II of the CITES.
Currently, due to habitat destruction in the Himalayan region they are migrating towards human populated areas.
