Himalayan Brown Bear

  • The scientific name of the Himalayan brown bear is Ursus Arctos Isabellinus. It is the largest mammal of the Himalayan region, which is about 7 feet in length.
  • It is mainly found in northern parts of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan as well as in western China and Nepal.
  • It is included in the category of Critically Endangered (CE) in the Red List of I.U.C.N. and in Schedule II of the CITES.
  • Currently, due to habitat destruction in the Himalayan region they are migrating towards human populated areas.
