'Ministry of Jal Shakti' has launched the first edition of 'India Youth Water Vocational Program'. It will be implemented by the 'Australia-India Water Center' under the 'National Hydrology Project'.
It aims at achieving institutional framework development and long-term investment for capacity building and improvement in the water management sector in India. Also it aims to provide professionals with the necessary skills, knowledge and networks.
The program emphasizes on the 'Role of Women' in 'Sustainable Water Management'. That’s why 10 women have also been included in the 20 youth selected for the first edition. It encourages 'gender equality' in water management.
Professionals from the Union Territories and State Governments who are implementing the 'National Hydrology Project' have been selected for this program.
This program is based on 'Training and Learning Model'. It emphasizes on understanding the situations and improving them. In this way it is different from complex training programs.
