Pangolin is a mammalian nocturnal animal. It lives in burrows and termites and ants are its main food. The pangolin is the most trafficked mammal in the world. Indian Pangolin is included in the category of 'Endangered' in the Red List of IUCN.
The body size of the Indian pangolin is the largest among the eight species of pangolin found in the world. Pangolin is an animal that is able to fold its body to form a protective shield to protect itself from any external attack.
The Forest Department of Odisha has done 'radio tagging' of a pangolin to standardize its rehabilitation protocol in the state.
This pangolin was kept under observation in 'Nandankanan Zoological Park' for a few days. After this it was released in 'Nandankanan Wildlife Sanctuary'. Earlier in Madhya Pradesh too, the pangolin was tagged and released into the forest.
It is to be noted that 'Nandankanan Zoological Park' is the only center for 'Conservation and Breeding' of Indian Pangolin.
