  • Joha is a variety of short grain winter rice grown mainly in Assam which is famous for its aroma and remarkable taste.
  • Linoleic acid (omega-6) and linolenic (omega-3) acid two unsaturated fatty acids found in this rice which help in maintaining the balance of various organs.
  • Its husk is used to make oil. It has been granted Geographical Indication in the year 2017.
  • According to the latest study by the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology, an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology, Joha rice is effective in reducing blood sugar and controlling diabetes.
