The Khalanga Mela is an annual event held at the Khalanga War Memorial in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.
This fair is organized in the memory of the Gorkha warriors who fought bravely against the British in the battle of Nalapani in the year 1814.
Various cultural programs like Kukhri dance, band show by Gorkhas apart from local delicacies like Bhutwa, Sel Roti, Fini and Gorkha Sauce are the main attraction in this fair.
It is known that in the Battle of Nalapani, the British army faced stiff resistance from Gorkha General Balbhadra Singh Thapa and his soldiers, who defended the Khalanga Fort for more than six weeks without food.
