Kui Language

  • Odisha government has approved the proposal to include Kui language in the 8th schedule of the constitution.
  • Kui is a south-eastern Dravidian language spoken mainly by the Kandha community of Odisha.
  • Written in Oriya script, this language is closely related to Gondi and Kuvi languages.
  • In historical times, the Kui language was also known as the Kuinga language. Its speakers in the country are more than 7 lakhs.
