It is a type of pneumonia caused by Legionella bacteria. It can take the form of mild fever and sometimes severe pneumonia. In case of bilateral pneumonia, the patient suffers from acute fever as well as myalgia, stomach ache and respiratory disease.
This disease affects people with diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and people who smoke.
It is transmitted from contaminated water to aerosol. It is transmitted to humans through air conditioning, cooling towers, hot and cold water machines. A mysterious pneumonia outbreak in Argentina has been identified as Legionnaires.
