Nagi and Nakati Bird Sanctuaries are two new Ramsites

Nagi and Nakati Bird Sanctuaries were recognized as Ramsar sites.
Both these man-made wetlands are located in Jamui, Bihar.
With their inclusion in the Ramsar Convention, the number of these sites in India has increased to 82.
Ramsar Convention is an inter-governmental treaty.
- It provides a framework for the conservation of wetlands and their rational use.
- It was adopted on 2 February 1971 in the city of Ramsar, Iran.
- It came into force in India in the year 1982.
- Under this, wetlands of international importance were declared Ramsar sites.
