National Program on Advanced Chemical Cell Battery Storage
The 'National Advanced Chemical Battery Storage Program' has been launched by the Ministry of Heavy Industries. This program amis to manufacture advanced chemical batteries for capacity building of 50 GWh.
National advanced chemical battery is a new generation of advanced storage technology that stores electrical energy either in electrochemical energy or chemical energy and can again converted into electrical energy, when needed.
This technology will be beneficial for the needs of electric vehicles as well as consumer electronics and power grids.
Recently, the ‘Production Linked Scheme’ has been launched by the Union Cabinet for this program. Under this, incentive amount will be provided by the government to the selected beneficiary firms. The incentive amount will be paid to the beneficiary firms on the basis of sales, energy efficiency, battery life cycle and localization over a period of 5 years.
